and i dont know what it is !!
its sort of creamy colour, looks like a small bit of meat and has what looks like a jelly surround. It's stuck on a stone just under the water level and is about 2mm x 2mm.

I believe i have tadpoles in the water (unsure at this stage).
my mum asked if it had black dots in it (she was thinking frog spawn) but it hasn't - it's got to be something though.
    exciting stuff!!!!

ps my dad noticed a coal black frog in his pond today!! he's never seen a black one before.

Bet you didn't know you can get orange, blue and yellow frogs too (oh and red frogs), stripy frogs, the list is almost endless (and yes they are all real)

I had some transparent jelly strips clinging to the underside of one of the stones in my mini pond. There's not much in the way of wildlfe in there except for a few snails, so I think they are snail eggs. Perhaps yours are too?

    thanks for all your replies!
I'm quite embarrassed to tell you this but I will

The other day i saw the lump had moved and was under the water, and as far as I could tell it was eating the irish bog plant and i could see a tongue moving -it looked like it had a crab shaped arm
anyway i got my b/f quick to look and he got it on a stick and I'm EMBARRASSED to say it was a bit of rotten meat. the cats or the birds must have dropped it in and it had gone kind of fungasy, which was the jelly looking surround - so yeh it looked like a bit of meat because it was a bit of meat!!
well it was exciting for a while [IMG]
at least now i know what snail eggs look like, thanks honey bee, and i havnt got any of them.

Also what i thought might be tadpoles are probably some sort of fly thing. one day something exciting for real will appear [IMG]

and yeh i feel like a right plonker [IMG]

    Hi Mgn...

[IMG] That is funny! Thanks for sharing!

I have done exactly the same thing and imagined seeing things in my pond that don't exist. The other day I freaked out at a dead leaf thinking it was something horrible.... [IMG]

well a dead leaf is horrible .. it's dead!! :D
i darent mentin anything else i might see after the 'worm crab' episode now haha.
the mind can play funny tricks sometimes on how we interpret such innocent things - i remember i once thought i saw a dead seagul - it was a carrier bag! I was all upset too. I think i need to go to specsavers maybe...

lol - my dad and I spent ages watching a badger, which didn't move, so we thought it might be dead - but it was actually cos it was a molehill.... and my mum saw a stork that was actually a cow's tail - we like to remind her about that now and then!
So, either it happens to us all mgn, or it's just you and my family that are daft - but, at least we are out there to look for stuff!

Hehehe! I remember the walk my family took one day, where we were mesmerised by the superb view of a kingfisher! We sent my poor dad back to th car for the binoculars which we had stupidly left behind. My son had first shot - and what a discovery...a piece of blue plastic caught up in a branch on the other bank of the river! Tsk!

    Have to join in here.

An elderly neighbour knocked at my door to tell there was a dead cat in the field beyond her garden and she knew I had cats. You can imagine my heart was in my mouth as I rushed over the gate to investigate and she went back into her garden. After looking in the undergrowth that she kept pointing at I was delighted to find a molehill, she had also rung the SSPCA but they told her they didn't attend for those cases - thankfully!!!

hehe - well my realy silliest one was, and one i'm not proud of but i thought i was in the right at the time and doing my duty - i saw huge clouds of smoke and thought there must be a really big fire somewhere close - wrang the firebrigade who came out only for me to realise after watching from my window for a good while they were actually clouds! I swear though they looked like black clouds of smoke, they did look weird and low.
we're a daft lot for sure, not just me and claires family it seems ;)

My daughter and I spent some time in atraffic jam discussing what kind of creature was sitting in the tree up ahead of us- only to see as we got closer that it was the well known black plastic bag bird....
