My strawberries are always covered in flies. Is this normal and is there a knack to stopping them?

    Hi Ming

I haven't grown strawberries for a few years but yes, I've had something similar happen in the past.
I think it must be the smell of the ripening strawberries that attract the flies but exactly which sort of flies they are, I don't know. There's not a lot you can do about it, I'm afraid. Just wash all your fruit very carefully before eating.

Damn! Now you've got me thinking about home grown strawberries again. Wish I'd bought some plants this year...!.
