At the end of September i planted daffodils and they were comming on really well (around 6inches high) Then last night the frost -6 got them. The temp. today has not been above freezing and my poor little daffodils have flopped over and look terrible can anyone tell me if they have had it or will they make a recovery

Hi Barra, wait until temperature rises, then you can see what damage has been done. Often it is the thawing out process that does most damage. None of my bulbs are that high yet, but I have plants which look all droopy after a frost but later in the day look fine. Cross your fingers!

Yes, it was just a joke, only just.
Daffodils are rarely affected by frost. They should stand up once again, once they have thawed out. Mind they are rather well advanced, even our February flowering ones are only just about 4 inches tall as of yet.

Barra - hi there and welcome. I'm with Palustris on this one - wait til it thaws and see what the damage is. If the stem is still intact they may recover even if only a little. I'm surprised yours are in flower - mine, even the early flowerers are not even showing bud.
