Hi, I'm looking to see if anyone has set up an Access Database or Excel software to automate paying prize money, counting points etc for their Flower Show. I'm looking for this for out local society and thought I'd ask before trying to set something up. Many thanks.

I haven't got anything like this, but off the top of my head I would say that Access is going to handle it much better than Excel. Are you reasonably comfortable with Access and VBA?

I would agree with FC that Access sounds more appropriate than Excel. I haven't designed a flower show database but I have designed them for university and school and find Access much more flexible. My only concern would be the bit about paying prize money automatically, whether you are just looking to create a record or actually carry out a financial transaction. That bit is beyond my knowledge.

I wouldn't be overly happy with Access processing financial transactions automatically - maybe as part of a process that a specified user can run, but not automatically.

I suppose it depends on how many entries (people), how many stages/parts to the competition, and how much you are looking to be able to hold and show history - - - this is where Access really benefits

      Evening

I wonder if you had any luck with your search for flower show software. I find myself in the same position. Would you have any progress that you might share? It is for the Ag and Hort in (hopefully) August.

      thanks in advance

Hi, I saw this post and wish to let you know I have a software package that is designed to run the entries and awards for flower shows. An amended version has been successfully used for a number of years for a local honey show. It runs in Excel and is easy to use with results automatically calculated at the press of a button. Let me know if interested.

@AndyP sorry, I doubt you will get a response. The last time this person posted was in 2018, but there may be other members interested of course.
