Flying ants

    We have just seen an exodus of flying ants in our garden.Unbelieveable :eek: :eek: .
    Hubby and i broke the olympic record for the sprint. [​IMG] .Is this the day they all take to the skies, has anyone else seen them?

    Have to have one of these now [​IMG]

    Nothing up hear in the North West yet! Maybe its too wet and cold to venture out hear yet. [​IMG]

    Not here in this weather..I should think they are in danger of flooding at the moment, but we do get plagued by them usually.

    We have them here too, Hubby said he saw a whole flock (is that what it is called?) take off yesterday from our patio.

    I have'nt seen any yet either but we've been selling loads of ant powder at our garden centre

    We have had them today and yesterday - must be living in Surrey where we moved to last week !

    It's the Bagshot sand beds...........

    Yes, we had masses of them getting airborne today in the garden. A nice little snack for the birdies!!!

    Spent the whole day in the garden the first good day for 2 months, thought about having tea out side, [​IMG] no way the flying ants are coming in droves. :eek:

    I saw these horrors on the IoW when we used to go back for the summers ... maybe that was one good reason for selling up and not going back! :eek:

    I'm intrigued by this - flying ants?

    Are they the same kind of things as harvest flies? When we last had sun here (23rd April 2007 3.41 pm to 4.03 pm)and I sat outside I was covered in them.

    I have had them for the last week on and off - only a few though - the ones that ended up walking on the path got squashed by me or sniffed to death by the cat :D ;)

    Not sure if they are the same as harvest flies (don't know what they are?) But they are like regular black ants only a lot bigger and shiney and with wings of course. They are horrors! [​IMG]

    T'other half thinks they are termites.
