Food labelling

As I buy most of my food online I unfortunately get a lot of it wrapped. The bright side is that I have recently taken an interest in the helpful advice on the packs. My favourites so far:

A bag of mixed nuts and dried fruit for Christmas: "Warning! May contain nuts!" (Instead of being alarmed I felt quite reassured)

Frozen Salmon Fillets : "Allergy advice: this product contains fish. " (Seriously, I was planning to call the manufacturer to complain that I had a reaction because it never crossed my mind that plain cuts from a fish might contain fish. And the warning was so small... )

A bag of fresh radishes: "Suitable for vegetarians". (Nothing there about vegans... makes you think. )

I heard that they were thinking of slapping that warning on the updated Gardeners Corner forum...

Actually, I would have felt very unassured... the word that makes me worried it 'May' ... you could read it as 'May or May not contain nuts' :th_scifD36:

Oh, and Im sure we purchased a pack of yoghurts once that said 'Contains Milk'... that WAS reassuring!

Its when it gets to the point where they start putting stickers on Apples claiming silly things like 'Contains Cyanide' that you know its worring times! Oh... hang on... they do contain cyanide !

 

I noticed on a packet of salted peanuts once the warning 'May contain nut traces'.
