Not often I make any sort of political statement but to show my private support of the French people in this time of tragedy and mourning.

Did you see the news tonight? Putin and Obama were actually chatting, being civil with each other, as they discussed how Russia and the USA could work together to eradicate IS.

I bet the spineless cowards that saw fit to turn automatic weapons on unarmed civilians did not want or expect that.

On the 3 a.m. news they said that they had captured some, supposed, conspirators in Belgium and were hunting another. His picture will be all over the media today.

I do not know when they will all be qualified as it must take years not weeks to train

Depends. It's all about digital comms now I reckon. A fairly intelligent teenager can 'cyber stalk', and that's with just basic tools that are available to all. Take such teenagers, but from a few years ago, who've since been to uni and learned programming, network infrastructure, and a big dollop of AI techniques and statistics, then give them unrestricted access to tinterweb, and I reckon they'd be gathering useful intel within hours. Add on some specialist training, allow them a few months to gain some experience, and cut them enough slack to 'play' and devise their own tricks.

I think when you do certain computing courses they 'secretly' give you lots of skills for it. I was taught in depth technical detail about about stuff I've never needed to know, with the only merit in teaching it, or so I thought at the time, was to teach us about weaknesses and how they could be exploited. I've chosen never to use that knowledge. Not for moral reasons, but because it doesn't interest me, but the knowledge is taught, openly, and in the right role it would be very useful.
