The qualifying session for the Portuguese Grand Prix of Formula 1 will take place today, with the 12th race of the World Championship taking place tomorrow the 25th at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, in Portimão which will have 27,500 spectators (just over 1/4 capacity)..

In Friday's free practice, Finn Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) was the fastest in both sessions, while Briton Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes), world champion and championship leader, with 230 points, was only eighth.

It is a pleasant sunny day at 20c so weather is perfect for it.

They hosted the Bike MotoGP on 7 October.

The track is about 45 minutes from us.

 

Must admit I'm not a fan of Formula 1 .

It rarely gets that exciting these days, more often than not its about who's car is best, or who can finish.

And the more I hear from, and about Lewis Hamilton the less I like him.

Far too much money involved.

 

I used to be years ago but not any more ... since the skill went out of driving and it became "all about the car".

My Dad had a race team in the 60s and I spent weekends on the tracks with him.
