Fortina Red Robin

    I have 13 "half standards" bout 5ft tall, planted last year, early summer

    Not sure if I should prune them or not and if I should how?

    Any advice welcome

    According to my research (!! - my very useful hedge catalogue!) you should trim in spring, and it grows a foot a year.

    PHOTINIA x fraseri 'red robin'
    when the bright red new growth begins to fade in the summer, then is the time to lightly prune, or clip, this give the plant time to make the new buds that will produce the bright red growth the following year
    If pruned in spring you will not get the bright red new growth, or not much.
    there are other varieties that need different attention
