well I didnt. It actually hopped onto my sons boots while he was doing something for me!! What surprises me most is how it got there. None of the adjoining gardens have any kind of ponds or water feaures and my garden has fence all around with gravel boards at the bottom so no idea where its come from. I know my garden is a bit on the wet side but no so wet it would have any tadpoles in!!! Perhaps thats the end of all those slugs now! I will ahve to stop using thos pellets now as well in ase i kill litle froggie as well

LG: I read recently that frogs only really go in the water for breeding purposes. Normally hide behind plants/rocks so can travel long distances without water but they are so well camouflaged that you don't usually see them. ;)

I had one hibernating in my folded over gunnera leaves. No ponds around, just a bit of soggy soil for the 'big g', hoped off merrily as you like when I uncovered the gunnera. A treat when you see them alive rather than as road kill.

I'm with DAG, frogs only need open water for breeding purposes. The nearest stream to my garden is 500 yards away. If you want frogs the trick is to provide a winter hibernation site. Mine is a turf covered pile of rubble/salt glaze drain pipe fragments.
While the foundations of the garage were waiting for the concrete delivery, I had to do a daily early morning frog rescue. On several days there were 20+ frogs and toads fallen down there, though we only ever saw one or two in the garden.

i know this is not the right forum, but the "cats forum" is full of wierd people who think it is "hygenic" for cats to use a litter tray!
........ 4 days ago i had a very nice mouse [quite large ears, average tail, living under the sofa, and popping out to nibble and feed etc, it has now disappeared, what should i do, in the past i have found them by the rustling noise, or by the corpse...... i have no idea where this one is .... people who own cats should warn potential cats owners of these problems .... i have turned off all noise in flat, but still can t find him

Seriously you can get little humane traps that catch but don't hurt!
