I had a new lawn put down about three years ago and have been battling the local foxes ever since. There are patches of burned grass where the foxes pee. I have tried something called foxwatch which emits an ultrasonic tone which was completely useless. I also have used neuturine to neutrolise the urine but it seems by the time I notice the burned patches such application is too late. The fox den is in the wild garden to the back of mine and I have tried to block up access but the foxes continue to come. Can people suggest effective ways to stop the foxes peeing and pooing on my lawn? (I have two cats so don't want anything that could be toxic to them).

    Many thanks

    Matthew

You could try a garlic spray, cut up some garlic (or powder) and put into water and leave for a few days, when it as a good strong smell spray around your garden ie where fox's come in where fox pee's top of fence's etc and keep spraying it work's for me with dogs and cats

Thanks for the garlic and Jack Russell tips. I will try the garlic, the Jack Russell will probably eat the cats as well as the fox so will put that one on hold

      Hi Matthew
Foxes are fiercely territorial. So its scent marking It lets other foxes know your garden is occupied and unavailable. The more prominent the scent-mark, the more likely other foxes will smell the message. So the presence of its own scent lingering in your garden reassuresthe fox that another intruder is not trying to take over. , If your garden smells of itself then it’s happy and doesn’t feel under threat.
And if you live, in an urban area where space is tight, the fox will constantly need to reassert control and protect its patch from neighbouring foxes.so At the moment, the fox coming into your particular garden probably feels very comfortable and content in its surroundings.

The way to get a fox to stop pooing and ultimately stay away is to make your garden feel awkward, threatening and unsafe. The more you can get a fox to feel instinctively wary of your garden, the less time it will want to spend in it risking a potential confrontation

They dont like Surprises, Loud noises Sudden movements nor Flashing lights or vibrations as Foxes love the darkness. The last thing they will want is a bright light suddenly and unexpectedly switching on. You can install motion activated OUTDOOR LIGHTS that are cheap and easy to install
Also.as Foxes have a very powerful sense of smell, you can use smells that they really disllike like natural ingredients l, chilli peppers, garlic and capsaicinas mentioned
Try boiling the chilli pepper and garlic with some water, then mix it in a blender. Spray this mixture anywhere in your garden that you don’t want foxes to go near.
It’s a great natural repellent that is highly effective, and is a great way to get rid of foxes in the garden without causing any harm

Also make sure you have no food about like petfood or food for hedgehogs or birds as they are real scavengers on the look out for food even water so make sure your garden not freindly to foxs

Thanks for this Janet. I have started to try this. Your reply has been really helpful and hopefully will save many time, energy and money that I have devoted to preventing the lawn from being destroyed.
