I doubt you can find one in uk , as they are supertropical plant , that means constant temperature and at leat 10 hours of light a day and after all it will be really slow grower more or less like a coconut , you can may find one but will be really hard to keep it.
Can you not go for a butya palm ? or if it for inside a PHOENIX ROEBELENII ?

I thought as much due to the fact is was so difficult to find one. I didnt realise it was that fussy, my research over the internet has said that it can withstand temperatures of -3 so I thought with a good wrapping up in winter it would be ok? As ive explained to longk before my desire for something a bit different is heading me in the wrong direction again! :wallbanging: Will look it to a Butya Palm instead. Thanks for the advice.

Really nice site Kristen , but to notice that for sure all the plants are somewhere warm like Spain or Portugal and there are not information about coldiness.
Technic , the plant is really nice but das it really worth spend all them money to find out if will survive in UK ? Plus sometime the hardiness is mesured in warm places that have snaps of frost .... florida can go to -3 , Spain can reach -5 ... but really warm after .
Butia are expencive as well , so not a plant that you will see in every garden , still and original piece .

I certainly wouldn't chance a Wodyetia or any Areca palm outside here, I would class it as a greenhouse only palm and if it grew you would need one with some height. As with many palms the cold tollerance is always stated but the high temperatures needed are not.

An alternative, in terms of bang-for-buck, is a Spanish eBayer who sells on the German eBay site ... he ships to UK for amazingly little. His stock is seconds from large contracts with big retail stores, so may be a bit brown-tipped leaves, which obviously the plant will grow out of, so if you are happy to grow & wait a bit then you may find a bargain. Keep an eye on the sale process though, although I think he's OK (he shifts a LOT of plants) people talk of poor status updates during the buying process etc.

This Cycad is about £38, plus £15 to ship to UK

and if you want to spend £100+ then:

        Cyca thouarsii €190 + €20 shipping
        [IMG]

        Brahea brandegeei €190 + €20 shipping

        Cycas taiwaniana €210.00 + €20 shipping
