Free Basil - sort of ! : )

    This is probably generally known and accepted but just in case...........I pinched out my basil plant for to encourage the bushiness - to keep the pinched out peice fresh until I was ready to use it I put it in water and est voille a week later its rooted enthusiastically and I have a new basil plant - BE WARNED , THIS CAN GET OUT OF HAND!! : )

      yep! - we do this all the time. Buy one basil plant from Sainsbury's, - repot, snip off the odd stalk and pop in water, in a few days roots appear, and hey-presto a new plant. Please note: If I thought Mr Sainsbury needed the money more than me I wouldn't do it.

      Does that make Mr Sainsbury's Basil Fawlty??. 10p on the "Sold Off" shelf?
