Calling into Homebase to check out if they had any of the 1p veg plants I'd heard about online, found trolley loads of all sorts of stuff marked as free, like hanging baskets with up to 1 dead plant, perlagoniums with up to 1 dead stem, and trays of stuff like sad looking lobellia that hadn't been watered for a couple days which quickly revived.

Got over £50's worth of freebies.

Saw some cars absolutely laden with wilting/poorly plants, and some customers were filling their trollies with free hanginging baskets intending to amalgamate and car boot for profit.

Today I got £45's worth of free Gladdy corms, packs of Lillies and Shallots (only a couple of soft sets per pack), somebody beside me was getting loads of Freesias. All their remaining seed spuds were also free. Could of grabbed more but left stuff for others. Freebies total now way over £100.00.

Got 5 x 6 packs of Ageratum in perfect condition reduced to 50p/pack, will go nicely with all my free Geraniums (standard and trailing), £2.50 isn't much for a front garden display

Nothing new on the 'free trolley' today except for some plastic pots removed from plants being chucked away, so grabbed about 60.

The amount/range of plants in their outdoor section is being reduced, perhaps there's going to be some sort of change being introduced by the new owners.

Helped myself to 40 red tomato pots from the freebie bin today.Usually i pick up a few of the free black trays very handy indeed for growing stuff in.
Sad thing was the girl at the till tried to make me pay 50p per pot because these now dirty used ex tom pots had the old tomato clearance stickers on them.
Poor girl wasnt exactly the brightest assistant. She couldnt understand the word "free" :wallbanging: :)

@Scrungee yes, I overhead 2 assistants talking about reductions in the number of lines and a different pricing policy under Bunnings (less of this silly inflated starting price nonsense). Mine had cleared out ladies gardening gloves for 3p and terracotta growing kits for 10p, but there was nothing left when I got there.

Free plants were back today, was a bit picky and only took a pack of Petunias (5 out of 6 ok) and a pack of Trailing Petunias (4 out of 6 ok).

There's a homebase near my work. I might have a look in tomorrow lunch time.

Nothing free today, but got 6 'non stop' Begonias for 50p, planted up my front garden beds and containers today with about £100's worth of plants that only cost £3. Only 2 free Geraniums got chucked out together with about half a tray of free trailing Lobellia, everything else recovered once it escaped the clutches of Homebase.

About 100 miles south of Shropshire.

Not a branch close to me then! :heehee:

I popped into the Telford branch yesterday and whilst not *free* did manage to get a couple of bargains.

2 Dahlia Dahlietta £2.00 each. They've been deadheaded and I'll pop them into a planter to add a little zing of colour on the courtyard area by the kitchen.

I also got 2 of these Pelargoniums. I've looked online and have read conflicting views about it's flowering period. Some stating that they only flower in May and others that it's a summer flowering plant. Does anyone have any info on this geranium? Annual/Perennial?

Multi-saves normally work at full price on reduced stuff at Homebase, so instead of paying £2 for 2 plants, you probably would've got 3 plants for £1.50.

I would have bought more of them @Scrungee but they only had the two. I'm hoping to get them into either a border or large pot today. :blue thumb:
