Freesias are one of my favourite flowers (only topped by Carnations) ... and I really do like Anenomes ... none of which I could grow in the UK, but they love me here ... and I them ... I have them all over the garden here in pots and rockeries and wherever .. please enjoy ...

This is the pot outside my kitchen door and I can smell this from my computer ... I must say I have had this pot for 4-5 years now and I have a wire hanging basket over the top of it to keep the flowers upright ... doesn't work ...:hehe:

... and some in the rockery ...

... and some by the Callistemon 'Flaming Fire' and the Marguerites in a pot with Pete's Chilopsis ..

And my Anemones with Roders' bamboo ...

This is Spring here ... we don't have the Daffs and Crocus but we have our special things.

Hope you've enjoyed.

nice flowers Vicky, looks more like summer to me.

Do you find all freesias have a scent, or are some colours stronger than others?

The cycad seems to be doing well also.

Hiya Pete

Yes, all colours have a scent, some stronger than others. I personally do not like the white ones and my friend Anthia think they are the bees knees ... I like the dark coloured ones and I think they have the strongest scent ... and are very, very heady.

I don't think I've killed off your Chilopsis yet ...

The Cycad loves its new location ... and I think it will have new shoots soon ...

The first of my Freesias have opened ...

The ones in the picture are growing up through a huge scented Geranium and it is their second year ... I did not plant them there. I have also discovered them growing in my Salvia border ... I did not plant any there. So I decided to do some research on whether they seed themselves ...

We have decided we will let them seed wherever they want to.

Not much spring stuff here as winter held on a long time.
I can manage Anemones allright in pots - but I've never had any success with Freesias :cry3:Maybe I'll give them another go :)

Really nice beautiful show Victoria. You are so lucky to see such blooms so early.

It's always great to see the first of something in flower. I guess the Jacaranda must have buds forming.

:) Thank you Alice, Robert and strongy.

No, strongy, not the first hint on the Jacarandas yet but it's usually June when they bloom. They did not lose their leaves this year but so many things are way behind schedule, the hybrid Cyclamen normally blooming through Christmas are only now fully blooming and the Billbergia nutans (keeping yours company on UKEG) normally bloom in January and are just now opening. The Freesias are 'on schedule' though so more pics will be forthcoming when we are out of our storm period. :dbgrtmb:

Victoria - your Freesias are lovely and you have reminder me how nice they are. I tried to grow them many. many years ago, before I had any serious interest in gardening. I grew them inside and they got very leggy. But now that I have grow lights I thinks its time to try again.
