Does anyone know if it is possible to freeze apple juice?
So far this year we've wrapped and boxed, dried, frozen and bottled apples. Over the past couple of weeks we've been enjoying apple + other fruit smoothies and the odd pint of pure juice.
The juice doesn't keep for long and we thought about freezing some. Will it keep?

Whatisface Bob Flowerbottom or such like used to freeze apple juice in plastic milk bottle things. We freeze ours in Litre tuppaware boxes, then remove when frozen and put into plastic freezer bags. It stores well, lasted from April when we juiced the last of the storers till mid Summer.

Did you add ascorbic acid Palustris or did you just freeze it straight?

Straight from the juicer, after letting it setle for a bit and pouring off the cloudy bit.
Er what is ascorbic acid then?

In essence it's vitamin C, but often added to home made wines to prevent browning. It can also have an effect on the taste.

Anyway I think we'll just go ahead and have a mega-juicing day tomorrow and freeze straight off.

Just done a bit of reading around and some folks add lemon juice to slow down browning or oxydisation, but since citric acid is the worst migraine trigger I know, we have never bothered. As long as you freeze the juice fairly quickly then there does not seem to be a problem, unless you want pure green commercial looking drinks that is.
