Today I noticed that a few of my baby french beans have split open and most of the embryonic peas inside have gone. Can anyone tell me what may have happened? Thanks

    Sounds like the birds !

You could try a cheap netting cover ? or alternatively, try bird feeders stocked with nuts and seeds.

I keep a constantly stocked feeding station and the birds rarely touch my crops !

Thanks I will get some netting. Any kind in particular?
I thought it may be some form of bolting as I planted out early?
