[IMG] French Lavender (Stoechas),lovely plant........to dead head or not, good question.
Seems a shame to cut them off,but it would indeed encourage a few more flowers.Put the dead heads into small linnen bag and put into the wardrobe and enjoy the smell. [IMG]

French Lavender, as roders correctly says Stoechas, grows wild here and is a wondrous sight at this time of the year, taking over the hillsides.

As for growing it in the garden ... I have had no luck so far. I have just had another one given me by my friend and I shall try again.

As to your question, lazy-gardener, they are not deadheaded here.

Hate to disagree, my dearest, the English lavender is the one that smells the best! [IMG]

I have also tried these - and found them tricky. I do deadhead to promote more flowering, but also take a fair bit off as I go, as they seem to get really straggily. Mine haven't survived harsh winters though with tough pruning - though cuttings have survived.

Bit of a mixed bag from me am afraid!

Evening, JarBax, mine don't survive MY winters in the pots but grow wild. I'm at a loss ... don't say a word, roders!

On the other hand, English lavender thrives by me .. must be a heritage thingy! [IMG]
