French lavender

    my french lavender is flowering when is the best time to harvest

    Hi galaxysue

    I guess it depends what you want to use your French lavender for. If it's the flowers you particularly want, then pick them just as the flower is opening. Take the whole stem with it so it's like a light prune.

    If you want leaves, you can take them anytime from Spring onwards.

    Its also advisable to collect herbs in the morning and to let the flowers dry in sunlight. Make sure the flowers are bone dry or they'll get mouldy (I speak from experience :( )
