My Osby fridge freezer appear to have given up the ghost after 18 years, and a replacement will arrive in a few days.

However the fridge appears to still be working, - well its kept cool all day. And the freezer seems to be working in part - well its holding at 0 even after removing the contents.

My question - is it a fire risk to leave it on overnight? Something is clearly wrong, but as its part functioning I would like to leave it as it has been doing all day - but not sure how much of a risk this is.

Well, no more than any other piece of electical equipment that has a mains lead and plug on it.

The motor unit itself is cooled by the refrigerant gas and therefore completely sealed and fireproof.

Providing the mains lead looks ok and hasn't got damaged I can't see a problem with keeping it running.

Is there any liquid leaking out on the floor?

Also, I take it that the motor unit is not overheating, just fairly warm as usual?

No liquid leaking, the mains lead is fine, and the side of the fridge is cooler than usual.

Thanks for the input - I wondered whether the motor could overheat. Thanks for the reassurance.
