    Hello

    Whaen is it considerd to be frost free now (what date) in the midlands?

    we'd consider ourselves frost free by end of feb to be sure but then we are on the coast of norfolk

    Ne'er cast a clout till may is out

    Which means end of may but usually ok to put out bedders earlier in may

    It differs from year to year. One year it was February then most years it's may.

    I'd go with Steve - we have had frosts and indeed snow in May. If you want to be 100% safe, wait til the end of May. 75% sure, go for mid May, 50% sure, go for the beginning of May.

    I have tender Florida plants, and during May they can be in and out of the greenhouse some years like a yo yo.

    Same here half way through May is frost free here and time to put the runners in.
