As well as the flowers a lot of fruit and seeds can be decorative at this time of the year - please add some of your own.

Solanum lactiniatum - looks like tomatos - but poisonous. This is a really nice structural plant, currently about 7 feet tall, that I will be growing again.

Brugmansia arborea - already the size of a lemon - very poisonous.

Datura metal. This is an annual and probably the most common Datura grown. As well as white flowers this can provide a range of single and double flowers in shades of purple. Its fruit can be identified by the purple tinge and the rounded nodules. It looks ready to shed its seeds - also poisonous.

Datura inoxia. Unlike most Datura, this is a perennial. It only bears white flowers and its seed pod is very spikey.

Nicandra physaloides. A really nice annual.

Chilli pepper, that I was given by a friend. Can anyone put a name to it, or give me any more information please?

Solanum sisymbriifolium. This is a very spiney plant - but the fruit are said to be edible.

Sutherlandia frutescens. I have shown this before - but I have read that the pods will now turn red.

Please feel free to add your own fruits or seeds.

As Pete said, a nice collection, Peter, and a very nice idea for a thread. :gnthb:

I thought all Solanum were poisonous:scratch: but I guess there is an exception to every rule.

Here are a few of my pics to add to your thread -

    Chinese Lanterns -

    - still unripe -
