Hi, We moved to our new house in May, the house had not been lived in for a couple of years, and although the garden is now neglected, you could tell it has been looked after in the past.
We have inherited 3 Fruit Tees about 6 foot tall, 2 apple and 1 Pear.
Unfortunately only one still has a label on it and it is a Braeburn. There are quite a few apples on them, but alas the poor pear tree only has 1 pear.
I know I will have to prune them when the leaves fall, and have a rough idea how to prune, keep the tree open and get rid of any branches that cross over. But I'm afraid I'm not sure how to recongnise a new fruit spur that has not born any fruit yet, apart from a bud that will just produce a branch full of leaves! Can anyone help please.
I have googled som pictures of fruit spurs, but still have a problem seeing the difference!!!
    Thanks in Advance----Linda :cnfs:
