Fruit tree id please, fruit looks a bit like a fig, but isnt

    Looks a bit like a wild pear. Our wild pears are, ironically, not pear shaped.

    I wouldn't eat it without a definate ID, but yes, wild pears are edible.

    Is it possible that's an immature quince fruit there? I don't know very much about plants but I assume that was picked recently. They go yellow when they're ripe.

    Is the fruit hard? If you taste a tiny bit of the fruit and it dries your mouth out, and tastes pretty unpleasant, I'd guess quince. If so lucky you, it's a beautiful plant and when they're ripe the smell is amazing. You need to cook them before you eat them though. They make membrillo with them in Spain.

    It could be quince but I wouldnt like to say either way to me it looks like a pear but in that kind of odd way when someone tells you their names Dave and you think to yourself yeah they look like a Dave.... but who knows :noidea:

    Going by the leaves my guess would be pear.

    Just thought, quince have a downy fur on them by now. Probably pear then. Not as fun as quince!
