    Hi,
I am a novice gardener who is trying my hand at fruit trees. I have a Plum, Pear and Cherry but for the second year I have had no fruit. The fruit seems to appear only to shrivel and die. There also seems to be some type of pest eating away at the leaves. I have attached some photos for you to view.

    Thanks in advance Photo033.jpg Photo034.jpg Photo035.jpg Photo038.jpg Photo040.jpg Photo041.jpg

Hi again Kevin, I've had a look at a general gardening book of mine but it's not very helpful. Regarding the disease/pest, could it be apple sawfly that is causing the damage. I've also noticed in these new pictures that your trees seem to be very close to what is possibly a conifer hedge, that could be one of your problems. Conifers will sap all nutrients and water from the ground which is probably not helping them, the conifers will spread their roots far beyond where they are growing in search of food/water.
