Fruit tree????

    I've got this tree at the back of my garden, the leaves are looking week, does anybody know what tree this is, and how i can look after it...[​IMG]

    Theres also something oozing out of the trunk..

    It's a plum tree. No idea what variety. May I suggest you obtain a pheromone plum moth trap (about a tenner) from the garden centre and hang it in the branches?

        It's a bullice, damson plum.

          The oozing stuff is sap but nowt to worry about, plums tend to do it.. You've also got some algae growing on the bark but again nothing to worry about.

          BTW - Nice looking plums!

            You could always cut it down and count the rings!:snork: But at a guess I'd say about 20-25 years old as it looks about as thick as the one in our garden that I cut down last year.

            The Damsons off it will make nice Jam. Bit tart but very nice.:)

              It was growing fan trained against a wall beside a narrow path Harry and had become too large to manage. I've replaced it with a standard on pixie rootstock.

                Yes, made a lot of it in my time. The bullace damson trees grow wild round here. It is a dark jam like blackcurrant but I love it. :)

                  Sorry to bring bring up another old thread.
                  Is there anything else I can do to help the tree as the fruits seem like they are either being eaten or rotting away..
