I seem to remember reading that it might be a bad idea to have your fruit trees over-hanging your veg patch as they tend to harbour insects that will attack your veg. As I only started gardening this year I was not sure how the layout was going to be, early in the year i picked up some fruit trees that have grown very well at this point in time they are about 5ft tall. I am now in the process of putting in raised beds and these need to next to the trees. Problem is in the next few years the trees will be over-hanging the beds will this cause me problems, should I move the trees and if so when. I cannot move the bed location as this is the only area available to me and not really sure what to do with the trees, if I move them to another part of the garden they will be very exposed and the ground is quite wet.

The biggest pest will be apids, as long as you spray with either a soap solution or an insecticide I cant see too hudge a problem.

My main concern would be the trees shading the veg patch but you can always prune.

How about growing them "Espalier" along wires, instead of into shade-giving trees/e

That's a great idea, what's the best time to move them.
