    My nan does this (or similar) sometimes with Sunday roast, It's very tasty =]

    Yes it is Aesculus.. My friends from Germany do a similar version with the apple every Christmas eve...!!:thmb:

    I use port instead of vinegar, add a few caraway seeds and a teaspoon of redcurrant jelly!

    It re-heats very well but is nice cold as a pickle!

    Yes Pineapple can add flavour, but it is a smooth sweet flavour & I think it needs something more...!!!! :wink:

    I like the sound of your Fruity Red Cabbage . I had a meal in a German resturant some years ago and they had a Red Cabbage dish on the table, it was devine . Often thought of trying on . this is may chance .let you know how it goes ..
    Think I.ll pass on the pineapple though ..LOL !!

    You could Tagine it up a bit with cinnamon, ginger, corriander & a small Morrocan goat.

    Maybe replace the sugar with honey?

    Typing with one hand, as i'm eating toasted milk bread with my spicey apple chutney, lovely.:thumb:
