I've got some trailing Fuchsias and some small-ish hanging baskets to grow them in, but I don't know how many to put in one hanging basket.

So the question is, how much root space does a Fuchsia need? I want the hanging basket to look 'full' but don't know whether one, two or three will achieve that effect.

Thank you for creating this thread. I shall watch it with interest and I know, that through GC, I will have a better looking hanging basket. I will go off and write down the names of the ones I have bought. They are patiently waiting in the mini grenhouse for a dry sunny day and a few hours OUTDOORS:SUNsmile::SUNsmile::SUNsmile:

I will be taking cuttings for Scotkat later in the year if/when they reach a decent size :blue thumb:

OK. Went out to the mini GH and I have 1) Blueberry Fizz 2) Velvet Crush 3) Frosted Flame and 4) Garden news. Will they all work together in the basket? Do I need one more (or different ones to subs. for the above?) thank you,

They are together in a basket which measures 28 cm diameter x 16 cm deep, with nothing else in there.

I have just been to Morrisons and ended up buying some more Fuchsias.

They had plug plants at £2 for 6, or two packs for £3, so I bought a pack of Pink Galore and one of Southgate (had two baskets spare so couldn't just let them sit there could I?) 12 plug plants for £3 = bargain.

Don't know anything about yours Jenny sorry - but I'm sure Scotkat or someone will be along with some advice :) I did google the pics and the first two particularly are very pretty.

Its better to grow all the same fuchsias in a basket or 1 large fuchsia in a hanging pot.

        Not to have different varites.

You could mix trailing foliage in your baskets.

Is that for aesthetic reasons or something else?

MW I have planted 5 La Campanella in a 35cm 14" basket , as recommended by Scotkat and other sites . I presume the same plants is for aesthetic reasons , but a mix will still look good :blue thumb:
Your 28cm basket is 65% the area of a 35cm basket , so I would think 3 plants would be fine for this . I have been firmly told in another post not to put my fuchsia basket outside yet :nonofinger:Leave it until mid may in our area .

Thanks Harry. I think I'll experiment and leave the ones which are already in the basket :blue thumb:

Two baskets will have the same varieties in, so I'll see which look I prefer.

Just found some climbing fuchsias online so may look into those for next year.
