    Hello all,

The leaves on my fucshias have developed brown spots on them. E.g Below is Dieing embers

They have grown well both in foliage & flowering but this is worrying me. They're my favourite plant & I have a nice little collection of 9 varieties in the garden (8 seem to have a similar problem - a few look like they have cig burns on the leaves)

    Please help .... :(

I think its Botrytis blight is a fungal disease that causes brown spots on leaves
you need a fungal spray, also housekeeping to tidy up , clear away all the old leaves underneath and burn if you can dont put them in your compost bin cut out the worst parts and clean your pruners when finished its with all the rain we have just had is the main culprit.

Well, it's taken a few days to sort out etc, however it may have been rust!! I found tell tail signs on some of the plants which didn't seem badly affected. Turned over the leaves and ...

I've thrown two that were in pots away (they were only young ones & were hit bad) On the others I've taken off all infected leaves I could see. There's now plenty of air circulation around all the fuchsias, however they look a bit bare ... Tried to leave as much unaffected foliage as possible - some were easier than others! I've ordered rose clear ultra which claims to help fight & prevent rust (as well as other fungal diseases) on fuchsias as well as roses.

      I think the plan is:

      - follow guidelines on spray.
      - keep inspecting & removing infected foliage when necessary.
      - I usually give a hard prune in autumn anyway.
      - when new growth starts next year, give a precautionary squirt.
      - Then check more often!

I'm not keen on sprays etc. However after filling over 1/2 green bin of fuchsia bits, I think an exception is going to be made in this case unfortunately.
