    Hello all

I have made newspaper plant pots with the aim of cutting down cost this year! Today I noticed that I have something extra growing with a lettuce that I planted. Admittedly my paper pots were a little too damp and they were very close together. My question is, is the fungi anything to worry about, I have been using organic composts so could the spores have come from there?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

Please see the pictures for the fungi. The small fungi I saw in another pot.

    Thanks,

    Emma

Looks like a type of Coprinus, quite common in manure heaps. Shouldn't affect your lettuce, its just after the nutrient in the compost.

Many thanks Ziggy. Would I need to spray the lettuce or anything at all? my lettuce seedling is still very small only with about 6 leaves.

      cheers,

      Emma

No worries Emma, no, it probably doesn't know the lettuce is even there.

Common to get "mushrooms" of some sort from newspaper pots (or the glue in Loo-rolls if you use them for pots), just ignore them :blue thumb:
