I found this, yesterday, growing under a very large Common Myrtle, at a Trelissick Gardens, Cornwall.
Can't tell you what it smelled like as my nose doesn't work very well any more. [IMG] [IMG]
I had to really pull hard to get it to come free. It wouldn't just snap off.
    Note 50p for scale.
    TIA

      Thanks JWK
      Looks a good candidate.
Have no fears, I have no inclination to pick and eat any fungi. I am partial to field mushrooms, but I never collect them, even when I am 99.9% sure.

I am mainly interested in vascular plants, but I'll often try and ID an interesting fungus I come across. I've tried Google lens with flowering plants and trees, and found it can be bang on, even to species level, or so far off the mark, as to be silly. Generally, I never even bother with it.

Just out of curiosity,:ideaIPB::ideaIPB: I have done a quick check with Lens on my laptop.

Depending on which of the 3 images I upload, it IDs it is either:
        Hymenopellis radicata
        or
        Amanita vaginata
        or
        Stubble rosegill

        :oopss::oopss::oopss:

Though, out of these, H. radicata looks the most likely.

It appears that Lens can be just as unreliable with fungi, as with vascular plants. Am I surprised??:yes::yes::yes:

        Have a good one

        Fof
