I bought a "Shrimp Cocktail" earlier this year (Morrisons) popped it in a container and it is romping away like mad! Actually, I also bought Army Nurse and put them together. Both are romping away but I prefer the flowers on Shrimp Cocktail

            Thank you, @"M" .

I'm trying not to have a look at what's good thread, as it is a time-thief, and there is so much out there that needs doing, despite the heat...

I have mine in containers, I have them mixed together, I'm not sure on varieties though.

Not as recent a pic because they are all huge now. Mix of pink and white in this planter aswell, the white flowering ones have the light green leaves. WP_20150617_21_47_03_Pro.jpg

Hi Adam, to be honest you can't go wrong with any fuchsias. If you put them in the shed, greenhouse etc. over winter they will be fine, I have had some of mine for years. My favourite is
                  voodoo

Its too dark to take a photo of mine at the mo... but this is what they look like.

I have them in hanging baskets, borders and tubs, a lot of people don't like them but I love them:wub2:

Lovely planting schemes there Bex :blue thumb: I have found that as there are apparently over two billion varieties of Fuchsia's ( well it seems like there are ! ) It's a good idea to keep some type of a planting log.

                        Hi guys,
Thank for the replies I bought John West, Dollar Princess and Army Nurse all growing like mad.

What do you do with them in winter is there any cutting routine I've been picking hardy fushias expecting them to survive the winter.

I prune mine right down cover them in straw or hay and put them in the shed out of the frosty weather and just water them now and again, the following year I feed them and bring them out when the frost has gone :dbgrtmb:

                        Hi Adam,

The three varieties you've got there are all hardy ( i think the names wrong on one though, it should be Tom West, have a look on the Fuchsia thread at mine and see if it's the same).

What sort of container are they in ?
It's worth remembering that plastic doesn't provide as much frost protection to the crown and roots as pottery etc).
If you look on the fuchsia thread ( I think it's page 7, I've put up a post about planting depth etc.

Yours should survive ok if they're planted correctly.

The post I've put in the Fuchsia thread today shows a General Monk, this has been outside now in a container for 3 yrs and is just starting to come into flower.

                        All the best :)

I never knew that potted ones could be kept outside, interesting read Anthony, I have some in the ground, which I inherited, no idea what they are but yes they are growing strong and flowering. I'm in work at the mo maybe tomorrow I could post them for ID :)
