Well the growth on the onions was fading fast so I lifted them and they are now drying out; the largest were easily the size of a tennis ball :D

Already had a couple, one chopped up on a cheese and onion cob and another added to some sweet & sour chicken...:yummy:

Well I've just dug up half of the "Sale" spuds from Wilkos that I planted about 6/7 weeks ago and we've got a brilliant yield of lovely clean looking spuds....:yummy:, I can't remember the variety, just know they were an early (not Rocket), but can't quite believe how quick they've matured!!!:thumb:

Hi Zig, not sure how I managed it :D ; after my 'Rocket' earlys had finished and I'd dug them up by the end of May/beginning of June I had an empty square. When I picked up the sale spuds it was the only room I had so knowing how much the others would have taken out of it I dug in 2 bags of rotted horse manure, some chicken manure pellets and soaked it the day before planting. They were earthed up twice and then for the last couple of weeks they've sat there doing nothing so I dug one up on the corner and got 8 spuds up to the size of an apple of the one plant!!!!! 6 weeks and 5 days from planting!!!

May I ask if you grew the apple tree from seed or did you buy it as a plant? I would love to have an apple tree.... the rate we eat them at is incredible!!

Would an apple tree grow in a pot or does it have to be directly in the ground?

Apples grown from seed usually revert to something small and bitter.

The ones you buy are grafted onto rootstock.

There are plenty on dwarfing rootstocks that you could grow in a pot, some with 2 or 3 different varieties on the same rootstock:dbgrtmb:

Completely agree; our apple tree is a grafted one, it was bought for us as a christening present for our son :thumb:
