Hello my name is Nickolas and I live with my dad on a rental 4 acre(1.61876 hectare) property in rural Victoria Australia unfortunately surrounded on all sides by monoculture farmland with the farmers that are stuck in the rut of doing what their fathers and grandfathers did before them . I am a permaculturalist as
well as a keen organic market gardener and a keen beekeeper and I am a vegetarian as of the 24 of November 2010. I also hope to open my own organic garden supply business when I am old enough to get a loan to help me start up as I am 16 years old. Also when I turn 18 I will inherit a 30 acre (12.1407 hectare) property which is 10 kilometre’s (6.2 mile’s) from were I live now, my future property is in rural western Victoria, Australia that back’s onto the Pyrenees ranges (that are in Victoria Australia named after the Pyrenees ranges in France). The property slopes upwards towards the back of the property which has three gullies, excellent water catchments and one dam at the front of the property. The property has a very rocky/clay soil mixture on three quarters of the property with several ridges of rocks that poke up above the soil line at the back of the property but up the front of the property in the lowest area of the block there are next to no rocks and the soil is a grey to black loamy soil, which is mostly made naturally from native eucalyptus and wattle leaves which makes it slightly hydrophobic but under the layer of topsoil is clay so I hope it counteracts it. The property has a lot of native both new and old eucalyptus tree’s and wattle’s scattered over the property as well as the trees that my dad and I have planted. I hope to live there permanently when I am 18 and have a fully self sufficient and sustainable lifestyle property.
To other information about myself I made my first worm farm 3 years ago in a 20 litre bucket. I now have two bathtub worm farms which produce 65 litres a week of worm juice. I make my own organic liquid fertiliser out of stinging nettles and comfrey as well as compost tea, horse, cow, duck, pig, and chicken manure tea’s and I also thanks to my old 2.5 horse power shredder make large compost piles and what I don’t use I trade with friends or sell at farmers market.
Hope I make some friends on gardeners corner
, Bye for now from Nickolas

Welcome Nickolas, well done on your efforts to date, I am currently experimenting with vermiculture in my back yard so let us know how things go.
Some pictures would be nice as it is hard to visualise your plot.

Look forward to your next post.

Hi Nickolas and welcome to GC.
Your surroundings and horticultural methods seem a million miles from my methods .but we can all learn from others ways and ideas .
I have never been an 'organic ' gardener but have always been concious of the enviroment for the past 50yrs .
I wish you every success in your future projects and hope you will join in our forum..
