Well I hope they are anyway! at my loacal GC they have a clearance stand and I picked up two clemetis at half price each.

One is armandii and the other cirrhosa freckles, considering they were just a tad neglected they are looking okay now:D

Something quite satisfying in rescuing forlorn plants.

Yes, I love doing that! :D Both of those are lovely plants, aren't they? And both evergreens too - a real bonus!

I love the discount stand! That sounds like a fantastic buy to me Stingo!

My best bargain was an apple tree from the 'search and rescue' area of the Hopetoun Garden Centre near Edinburgh. It was half price, as it didn't have a label. I do love a surprise! Will have to post in the id. section - as have no idea what kind of apple it is - but it has theeee biggest, sweetest red juicy fruits I could ever dream of! The red from the skin permeates the flesh. Yeeuuum!

I recently bought a bearded iris from a market stall, where the lady couldn't remember if it was yellow or purple - will wait and see!

I've had a few from there, JB! I even used 3 clematis from there on a job! :D One very happy customer! I often get real bargains from places like Poundstrecher, Instore Poundland or Lidl - a few losses, but most survive and even thrive. The number of people who've told me they got a nearly dead tamarisk in Woolies, and it's that bush there (indicating some enormous great thing covered in pink flowers!!)
