    Hi there

I'm using a garden cloche over a cutting of ivy that I took from another part of my garden, as the instructions with the rooting hormone suggested that the cutting be covered. I noticed that the cloche has misted over quite a lot (condensation.)
Will this prevent sufficient light reaching the cutting? Should I open the vent thing at the top to prevent condensation or will this defeat the object of the cloche?

    Thank you
    Amanda

Is it a special ivy? The ivy I have is a blinking pest and will grow where ever it touches the soil.
All you need is a piece with roots on and pop it in where you want it to grow and stand back!
Can you post a pic of it?

    Hi

No it's not a special sort of ivy. I've posted further details in my post above about climbing ivy to cover a wall. (It's the same cutting I'm writing about in both posts.)
Hmmm.. perhaps I've been making things more difficult than they need to be then. I'll have to dig around for a bit with roots on if the cutting thing doesn't work.

    Thank you

    Amanda

PS. Good idea about taking a picture to go with questions. Will look into doing this for future posts. (Only joined the board today so still getting into the swing of it.)

Condensation for a cutting is ok as you don't want to let the leaves lose too much moisture until the roots are sufficiently established.
As soon as the cutting starts showing growth you can start ventilating.

As mentioned previously ivy isn't difficult to propagate and you could have probably done it by simply sticking it in the ground or digging up a bit with roots.
