garden design

    hi every one
    i have just moved to a new property i am after ideas on the garden.Its is south facing an gets the sun most of the day,its at the top of 1 of the steapest hills in sheffeild.The space its self is approx 8m tapering to about 3m and is appox 25m long.Heres the bad bit its on a 45 degree slope apart from the last 5m which is flat.If poss im after ideas im not afraid of hard work ultermatly im after something thats functional for partys,kids and if poss low mainternace.Thank you

    As said before in this forum - and for more ideas, try browse the photographs in gardening and design books at your local garden centre, and take a look at neighbours gardens. Then map out what you think will work for you. Unfortunately you can see your garden, and you can also see what you want to use it for - its just a case of clothing that

    I would agree with Fran. Try to get an idea of what style you like. Modern, formal, cottage garden, big open space for kids, shrubs, or flowers etc. I did this by looking through pictures in books.

    Is the house at the top, with the garden falling away? Or is the house at the bottom looking up? The view will be very different, Are you prepared to put in some steps and terracing - hard work. If so look particularly for pictures of terracing for ideas.
