Garden grit alternatives

Good Morning All

I hope you're all enjoying the Easter weekend and have not eaten too many chocolate eggs

So I'm looking for an alterative to Garden grit , I'm hoping to pot up a rosemary bush on the instructions , It said to mix 30% grit to 70% compost

I don't have any grit at the moment is there anything else I could use ? , I have a bag of 10mm gravel could I use that ?

Oh and sorry the title should say grit not git , not sure how to edit the title

Gravel would be fine.

 

The gravel is just to help the soil drain more easily, if you have sandy soil already probably not needed.
Our potted Rosemary is in norrmal soil without any extra grit and still doing well.

Stores such as Wickes will be open tomorrow, for sharp sand etc.
