I vaguely remember that when I was a young kid we did a school project in "nature class" (do they even have a nature class these days I wonder?). We were each sent home that day with a large bottle or jar, a small bag of soil and some seeds. We were told to but the soil in the bottle or jar, wet it, then sprinkle the seeds in and leave the whole thing on a window sill. We then had to keep a weekly record of what was happening in there.

I would really like to relive that experiment, but I have no recollection at all as to what types of seeds we were given, or even much about what the plants looked like when they grew. All I remember is that the bottle ended up with lots of small but mature flowers in them.

Now I'm older and I understand a bit more about plants, I reckon they most of been heat and humidity loving plants (being in a bottle on the window sill).

Any ideas what might work in that particular arrangement?

did your bottle garden work? I have been given a large bottle the person who had it had put a load of artificial plants in but I would like to try the real thing and have it outside
