In 2001 the town of Westerstede gave 2 1/2 acres of land for the public. Twenty nurseries from this area take care of it, planting according to the season. This whole area is full of nurseries as the soil is peaty and so ideal for rhododendrons, azaleas, etc. This garden is right next to B¶hlje Nursery, where we saw the Cardiocrinum giganteum.

The first thing you see when you go in is this 5 meter tall pyramid. On each supporting arm is a different climbing plant - clematis, ivy, etc.

You walk up the track on the one side -

This was very interesting, a wall with roof containing different nesting mateials for bees and wasps. Even a log in front for whatever likes to live in such. Oh, yes, and straw tucked under the top of the roof tiles too.
