Since Ziggy hinted, here's some pics of our garden overhaul!! (according to paint, these images are less than 800x600... hope so!!)

We were having flooding issues, any drop of rain and this was the result:

Our landlord finally helped us out after a 6yr long battle and they put in drainage a few months ago. So our work began yesterday. this is an ariel view from our upstairs window.

the square section on the bottom right has become our shed. The very back section will be grass, and the rectangle section on the left will be stone chips.

Yesterday my friend's hubby and our nephew came and dug out all the weeds from the back section, and lifted all the slabs...

closer view... ignore the bench!! The bench and the mound of weeds have gone now. Our garden is SO tidy looking at the moment.

I'll get an upstairs view of it tmor to compare the difference. My task this week is to order a layer of topsoil for the area at the back, and turf/lawn seed and to order landscape fabric/stone chips for the area on the left-hand side.

We are hoping for a guy to come and build a fence along the right hand side of the garden asap, then our 2yr old daughter can go out and play!!!!!!!!!!

It's coming on really well Snowbaby. You say you have a toddler and need a fence on the right. Is the one on the left safe, it doesn't look very secure.

      Looking good :D
Shop about for soil, I noticed prices vary hugely!!!!

I agree with Sheal, that panel looks a bit shakey...
Baby/Toddler proofiing a garden I think is impossible, doesn't matter what I do, our 15mo twins find something they're not supposed to lol

      Blimey,

      That reminds me of a station I had on my model railway when I was a kid;

      It was called "Quagmire North"

Mind you, I did have a pub called "The Cat and Mallet" too

Yeah, we need to sort that one post on the left fence at the back.

I think toddler-proofing is impossible haha!! As long as I can escape-proof I will be happy!

Isn't it amazing?! My 2yr old little girl adores her garden, that in itself made the hard labour all worthwhile. Hope it's dry tmor so she can play outside and we can sit and watch!

I'm feeling quite gutted this morning..... it has rained overnight (i knew it would and thankfully it saved me watering the turf!), this morning the turf is flooded :( It's got a fair bit of surface water lying on it.

Would this be how it will be all the time or could it just be until it settles and takes root?

Its a lot better, will be great once you have the fence sorted out and she cant get though.

Are you putting in any shrubs/trees? I would consider some climbers to hide the fence at the bottom or maybe a small tree or two to make it feel a bit more secluded :)

that's a good idea, to cover over the 3 types of fencing haha!! All 3 bits were there when we moved in. I'll look into something to grow there!

Your lawn should be okay once it's roots have established. When you get some plants established aswell, they will help take up the excess water. :)

Great job plus excellent photo's. I personally would love to have the time to create such a lovely garden shed, but don't at the moment. Maybe in a few years i will. For now i took the easy way out and got my garden shed and a carport from isheds here in Australia.
If anyone is time short like me,
          Keep up the great work.

          Cheers
