I must be mad..On the hottest day of the year I decided to sand down our garden seat and give it a treat. It was bleached white with the powerful Yorkshire sun.
No way was I going to vanish it, so I went for Ronseals furniture oil.
I`m really quite pleased with the result after just one coat.
Another two coats as recommended should see it through the summer.
Well knacked and overheated after about two hours and job done.

Thanks guys.. Thats a light oak finish and I actually think it looks better than the original very thin finish which seem to peel as soon as the sun saw it!
This is what It looked like a few days ago. You can see how bleached it was.

You would make a small fortune and certainly be very busy .... we sold our old set off on ebay and brought new purely to avoid having to do it. Am sure we arent the only ones either, so if your ever bored and broke you could always give that a go :)

hi CAPNEY. put new decking area down ,this year.i had noted most people had used a wood stain to finish it off.i purchased( RONSEAL DECKING OIL )
to keep the natural look of the wood, and bring up the natural colours of the decking.it worked a treat and looks great. ANOTHER PLUG FOR RONSEAL!!.

Hmmmm, that does look good. One of my projects is to re do a similar double seater and two benches - was hoping for this weekend. I was going to get the Ronseal, but was convinced into getting Linseed oil - though I haven't picked it up yet. Does the Linseed seal it as well? I imagine being an oil it would......but your pics are definitely a good recommendation for the Ronseal! I shall remember to take before and after pics of mine too whichever way I decide!

    Very nice YDD.
    What product did you use?
My furniture looks even better now its had two coats and after the downpour yesterday the water was nicely pooling on the woodwork so it appears to have sealed nicely. Time will tell if it resists the power of the Yorkshire sun

I have never used Linseed oil on garden furniture.
I`m not sure, but is there problem with drying times and maybe a bit smelly and sticky. Is this the stuff we oil our cricket bats with?
