What sort is it otto? Is is heavy clay (rock hard in summer and under water in winter) or very stoney? Peter

The soil is deep, no clay or stones, well-drained, but is just not producing good crops.
    Thanks Peter,
    Regards, Otto.

Hi otto, The answer is to dig in as much organic material as you can get your hands on.
Meaning, farm yard manure, horse manure, goat manure, rabbit manure. But it must be at least six months old or the acid in the manure will scorch any plant it touches. Try to aviod chicken manure as it has too much nitrogen in it. Do you have any stables nearby? Ask if they have any manure they want to get rid of? Regards LesH
