I think I must have dropped into an alternate reality lately. There seems to be a lot of things going on that are so crazy that you couldn't make them up:)

In this episode, a woman who was employed as a gardener has (unsuccessfully thankfully) sued her employer because she was exposed to UV rays from the sun.

    http://www.gazettelive.co.uk/news/woman-sued-middlesbrough-council-over-6265007

She claimed that her employer failed in their duty of care to provide her with hats and sunscreen, and that she didn't know about the risks from sunshine and her employer never told her.

Thankfully there is at least one aspect of this story that conforms to my understanding of common sense. The judge ruled that her employer has no case to answer.

It's pretty obvious that natural selection isn't working very well! :hate-shocked:

A friend of ours has a very large team of staff that work in the sun on their 790 acres. They provide hats and sunblock and regular reminders to staff - but they still get burnt!!! :nonofinger:

At least the Judge had the sense to throw it out of court. So many silly case like these seem to go in favour of the opportunist trying to catch a payout.
