Don’t know if we have any fans, I certainly am and will be watching the first series this Friday of Gardeners’ World and I will watch Alan Titchmarch Gardening Club if it is coming back this year.

Now let me tell you just over 5 years ago there is no world where I would’ve watched Gardeners’ World, it suffered the same fate as Songs of Praise. But with the pandemic and at home shielding, could not see anyone, I owned one pot full of weeds. So picked up a pair of secateurs (these would be blunt) and never looked back. Gardeners’ World became part of that journey, as it was the only thing being filmed. My main hobby wasn’t available to me.

So started watching Gardeners World maybe 3 episodes before the lovely Nigel passed away.

So Friday evening a curry, beer and Gardeners’ World, what could be better!

I really enjoyed Alan Titchmarsh in th eyears he was at the helm of GW and I thought his How to be a Gardener series was brilliant but I find he's gone sugary, smarmy and sentimental on Love Your Graden so not sure I'll cope with his Gardening Club, thos I'll give it a try.

As for Monty D, I learn very little from him in a whole series these days but watch it (recorded so I can FF) as I like the garden visits and other presenters, especially Adam who always has something interesting to say about plant qualities and combinations.

Should say I've been watching GW since 1983 when we bought a house with a garden. I'd only ever done window boxes before then. Geoff H and his team taught me well and how to do it on a budget which was important then.

I've been enjoying the recent GW highlights programmes. Really gets me in the mood for some serious gardening (and for the new series starting this weekend). We always watch GW but it's surprising just how many pieces you forget over the months so it's great to see them again. This week it was particularly good to see how Nick had got on with his new garden. He's made a fantastic transformation. When are we going to see how Frances is getting on with hers?
