Watching Gardeners World this Friday you could tell who the gardener that influenced most of the new presenters was. They did a little bit about them all but Geoff Hamilton was the one they all remembered fondly and had various stories to tell.

Strangely enough, I have recently acquired a book on how to grow veggies by Percy Thrower that I have found so helpful and useful that it is now my bible. It just shows that gardening is perennial ! ! !

Yes, I thought the same Johnny - and the program was fascinating, showing how things have changed.

I think Geoff was excellent as he tried to show you the cheapest easiest ways to garden without any pretension and one of the first purely organic gardeners as well. I have to say that I've just made a bench from his cottage garden book [IMG]

Geoff was a God!! His life ended far too young. The constructions in his cottage garden book are ace, especially the obelisks! Even I could make them!! :D

The man was a gardening guru and his books are the best I've read.

Just ordered "Gardeners' World" Cottage Garden, The Small garden guide in paperback by Geoff Hamilton. Just hoping this isn't the same book as his Geoff Hamiltons Cottage Garden book.

Got "Gardeners' World" Cottage Garden, The Small garden guide yesterday. It is dated 1982 and in this Geoff is certainly not organic but he won't kill off the worms that make casts on the lawn and after using herbicide twice on a new patch he plants a wild flower garden so you can see his road to Damascus here.
