I have subscribed to a couple of gardening magazines, as frankly they are a cheap treat for me being a mum of three. They don't break the bank at about a tenner a quarter and they give me many relaxing quiet momnets when my baby is asleep!!

I love gardeners world magazine, but amatuer gardener is not really doing it for me. Although I did love the free seeds! So I'm looking for an alternative.

Can anyone recommend any magazines they have bought. I have no water features and do edible and flower gardening, so an all rounder is what I'm after. Homes and Gardens not really what I fancy, just gardens.

Would love to hear of any good reads you've had! Thanks chaps.

    :)

I cant recommend any other than gardeners world but was wondering if anyone else in your family likes gardening ?

In our family, my Aunty subscribes to the gardeners world and my mum to Ideal Home. They then swop magazines when they finish with them ...... and then when they have finished with them again .... they pass them both on to me, so I get both for free :)

If there are a few of you that like gardening you could subscribe to one each and then pass them round until you have read them all! That way you get to read more of a selection and keeps the cost down :gnthb:

Good idea, but I'm afraid it's just me. My mother in law might be up for it, but she lives quite a way away so we'd end up forking out postage, and a bit of a hassle. Will suggest it when we finally manage to tempt them to move our way!!!

I used to get Garden News, a weekly good all rounder in a newspaper format. The great thing about it beeing weekly, apart from the fact I had four 'fixes' per month instead of just one, is that it had tips for things to do that week instead of for the month, so it was more up to date.

Probably the thing to do is try one or two different ones and see which suits you.

Not a different mag but if you get Tesco tokens Gardeners world is on their clubcard deals so you can get a whole years subscription for £7.00 and it is delivered to your door.

Would you rather pay the full price, £10;50 would get you 2 copies and some change

I subscribe to gardener's world through the tesco clubcard deals and its a real bargain. I used to subscribe to garden's monthly and grow your own but i couldn't afford them.

What about joining RHS because u get their gardens magazine and free entry into RHS gardens and reduced entry to other gardens and shows. U can also get free seeds each year from the seeds they get at their gardens. I think it's £40 ish for the year

"Would you rather pay the full price, £10;50 would get you 2 copies and some change"

£10.50, using Clubcard Tokens, gets you an Annual subscription. Normal discount price around £30

    Or maybe I misunderstood something?

What I was saying was that it was a bargain for a years subs at £ 10;50 cos in real money you could only buy 2 copies for that much. I thought that Hec was complaining because it had gone up to £10;50 of tokens. Sorry if I upset anyone.

    Nope - no offense taken!

Not complaining - just apologising as I felt I had mislead with the £7.00

    I think it's a great deal :thumb:
