One of our greatest horticultural pleasures recently has been introducing our granddaughter to fresh fruit and veg. She ate her first fresh tomato and loved it at the age of 8 months and a year later was picking her own from our baby toms and was really sad when the last plant was lifted. Last year, pea picking and scoffing provided lots of fun and nourishment, as did the strawberry crop. Baby carrots eaten raw went down well particularly if she’d dug them up herself and cucumbers provided great nibbles as well as presents to take home to mum. Freshly picked blueberries were used when making blueberry muffins with gran and washing freshly picked apples in the kitchen sink was lovely splashy fun as was taste-testing them. Just a few weeks ago she was helping gran pick brussel sprouts and insisted on picking one for herself and then having gran cook it so she could eat it.
Last week she was helping weeding and was using her little fork to look for carrots as she knows they grow in the ground and taste nice. She’s been walking past the strawberry bed and commenting “no strawberries” and looking in the polytunnel and saying “no tomatoes”.
Just a pity we don’t have chickens!

      Aww, thats lovely Dave.

Still remember Poppie when she was a todler, picking an Apple on a frosty morning & biting into it. The look of shock because it was ice cold:hate-shocked:

Last week she said "When do you want to be a Grandad, Dad?" :thud:

Go for it Ziggy - it's much more fun than being a parent!

That's nice Dave, and lovely to encourage the little ones to eat properly.

Careful Zigs, she's got a camera and is probably at this moment posting on facebook a photo of you and saying "Do you recon Dad is ready to be a grandad?"

I looked like that when I had her, but with worse colour sense, I tended towards greens & purples.
