So yeah, I dislocated my knee yesterday and it looks like I'm gonna be in cast and on crutches for as much as five weeks. I just put some peas and mangetout and shallots and parsnip seeds in my new raised bed, though, and I don't want them to be set back in this dry weather.

Are there any tips for watering things with a bum leg?

Well I would say use a hose pipe but of course there is a ban about to be announced for large parts of the south, where-abouts are you?

Many years ago I shattered my ankle and was in plaster for three months and on crutches for six months, I wasn't allowed to put my foot down at all as I'd broken my leg below the knee too. It's not easy trying to garden on crutches, as it's difficult to carry anything. I actually found it easier in a wheelchair which I borrowed from my hospital. If you've got an outside tap you'd be able to use a watering can and carry it on your lap. You could tend your raised bed from it too.
